Incidental Music: Music in a TV show or film that s not primarily musical. It is less frequently applied to film music, as it is normally referred to as film score or soundtrack.
It is background music and intended to add atmosphere to the action. It may take form of something as simple as a low, ominous tone suggesting an impending startling event or to enhance the depiction of a story-advancing sequence. It could include pieces that are played during scene changes.
